Sports
I love several sports! I don't play any organized sports, but I'm a big fan.
My Favorite SportsIce hockey is my favorite sport (it's the most attention deficit-friendly). I've been to many Providence Bruins games in my life and I like hockey best live, but it's still my favorite sport to watch on a screen. I'm also passionate about baseball. I used to go to Pawtucket Red Sox games, but that team doesn't exist anymore. My interest in soccer is moderately strong, and I follow multiple clubs across the world as best as my busy life permits. I played some soccer as a kid. Basketball is another sport I watch, though I don't follow it very closely. I've never been to a game (I'm not counting the Harlem Globetrotters), which is a shame, because I know I would have fun!
In the summer of 2025, I fell in love with vintage base ball[sic], which is baseball played according to the rules of the 19th century (varying from club to club). It's a more authentic and more intimate experience than professional baseball and it's all about the love of the sport and its long history. It's also much faster-paced (as in, 90 minute game fast-paced) and more unpredictable as it necessitates "small ball" play.
I like watching parkour videos, but only extreme tag (the other attention deficit-friendly sport). The way the people move is mind-blowing and it reminds me of cats (yay!). I think parkour capture-the-flag would be pretty cool, but to my knowledge, no one's done it yet.
Some underrated sports I want to share are: floorball (similar to non-contact hockey on a wood floor, it's very fast-paced but also safer for the players); SoccerSquash (which is something I've had the vague idea of for a while but only found while building this site); and trampoline gymnastics (which is part of the Summer Olympics but I think more people should appreciate it because of how awe-inspiring it is).
I "invented" a sport for the series I want to showrun. It's called "rollercrosse," and I designed it by combining rules from ice hockey, basketball, and indoor lacrosse. My goal was to create the fastest-paced team sport in the world. It has, of course, never been played.
My Favorite TeamsBoston Bruins: lifelong fan.
Boston Red Sox: also lifelong fan.
Boston Celtics: lifelong fan but I've only paid close attention since ~2019.
My RecommendationsEnglish Football League clubs with official supporters' groups named 2025 Champions by Football v. Transphobia: Derby County, Manchester United (which I'd take with a grain of salt seeing as the club is so globally popular that one support group is an infinitesimal portion), Queens Park Rangers, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Stockport County, Sunderland, and Watford. Hopefully the 2026 list is longer.
LGBTQ+ soccer clubs: many aren't livestreaming on the internet, but it appears Stonewall FC (England) streams some matches.
Pacific League baseball English broadcasts (usually one free game a month): one of two nominal major leagues in Nippon Pro Baseball (or, if you prefer, Pro Yakyuu).
Japan Amateur Baseball Association: in Japanese, and free. They livestream the Intercity tournament, the All-Japan Club Baseball Championship, and other games. They may livestream the Japan Independent League Grand Championship, but I don't know for sure.
Basketball Africa League: at least some games free. I love the style of play in this league. It's extremely fast-paced. It uses its ginormous production budget better than the NBA.
Swedish Hockey League: highlights only. The SHL is somewhat different from the NHL: it has been described as smart and methodical, as opposed to physical and heavy-hitting. Some people say it's slower hockey than the NHL, but it's still extremely fast compared to other sports.
Swedish Super League: free, but only some games are uploaded. Mostly highlights. The highest level of floorball.
